Welcome to Rep. Draper’s Newsletter
Allow me to tell you a little about myself.
Dear friends,
I am both thrilled and honored to serve as the representative for Georgia House District 90. If we are meeting for the first time, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a civil rights attorney, woman of color, and mother of three. My family immigrated to the US when I was a child and we settled down just outside Atlanta. I am a product of Georgia public schools, a proud graduate of Georgia Tech, and a former Peace Corps volunteer. After serving two years abroad, I returned to the US and earned my law degree at Georgetown University.
My career in law has spanned the private, non-profit, and political sectors, and currently I work at the nonprofit organization I co-founded, Power The Vote, that is engaged in Democracy protection work across the country. One of my proudest professional accomplishments was leading the Democratic Party’s voter protection effort in Georgia when our state flipped blue for President Biden, and through the historic double runoff elections that elected Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
Fighting for our fundamental and human rights has been my calling throughout my life and career. I believe that everyone— regardless of their bank account or ZIP code —ought to have the opportunity to reach their full potential and make a better life for their family. Those are values for which I will never stop fighting, and why I decided to run for office.
I was sworn into the Georgia State Legislature on January 9, 2023 with my family by my side. I will strive to serve the people of House District 90 and all Georgians by supporting legislation and policies that protect our rights and reflect our values.
I hope to use this newsletter to keep all of you informed as to what is happening under the Gold Dome, and what my thoughts are about initiatives that are being discussed.
But I also want to hear from you. I need your help, your ideas, and your involvement in District 90.I am looking forward to working hard for our district, continued engagements with friends, and to developing new friendships. Let’s build a better Georgia.
